A Genetic Algorithm-Based Approach to Network Port Hopping Defense

In today's networked environment, cyber-attacks pose a significant security threat. Traditional port-hopping defense strategies have several limitations: fixed and highly predictable hopping strategies, insufficient dynamic adaptability, and an imbalance between security and efficiency. To address these issues, this study proposes a Genetic Algorithm-based Moving Target Defense method. This approach improves security by dynamically adjusting port numbers using a biologicallyinspired global search mechanism to identify optimal configurations. Experimental results demonstrate that the method reduces intrusion success rates by identifying superior defense strategies. Furthermore, it facilitates dynamic port configuration adjustments and delivers optimized hopping strategies.
