Virtual Inertial Coordination Strategy for Electric Vehicle Enabled Microgrids

The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) presents significant potential for supporting and enhancing microgrids by replacing energy storage systems. This paper proposes a control strategy based on the collaboration of multiple virtual synchronous generators (VSGs), designed for EV collaboration to provide power support and ensure the stability of microgrids. An adaptive algorithm is designed to estimate the EV state of charge (SOC) and update reference power using a real-time multi-agent consensus algorithm to avoid EVs over-discharge and exit prematurely. The impact of virtual inertia on VSG is investigated to develop an improved adaptive multiple VSG integration algorithm for effective EV support in microgrids. Additionally, a derivative-free control strategy is introduced to address microgrid harmonic and oscillation issues caused by traditional multi-VSG integration. Numerical simulations and hardware-in-the-loop experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies.
