A Design of Broadband Wide-Angle Scanning Phased Array Antenna Array in C-X-Band

In this paper, a high-performance phased array antenna featuring broadband and wide-angle scanning in C-X-band is designed. The proposed antenna adopts an improved metal dipole structure with parasitic patch, which effectively solves the impedance mismatch problem commonly associated with traditional dipole antennas during wide-angle scanning, significantly enhancing the beam scanning performance. An 8 × 8 planar array is fabricated and measured for validation. Experimental results demonstrate that the antenna achieves an excellent impedance matching characteristic with the relative bandwidth for VSWR <2.5 about 68% and a wide beam scanning range of ±45° and ±60° in the E-plane and H -plane, respectively, which indicates that the proposed antenna possesses superior radiation performance across the entire operating bandwidth.
