The Research of the De-Embedding Method to Enhance Gain Flatness for Near-Field Probe

This paper thoroughly investigates the de-embedding method that can effectively enhance the accuracy of the calibration results for the near-field probe. Two types of microstrip lines with significantly different performance characteristics are employed as the calibrators. The air-filled grounded coplanar waveguide (AGCPW) with better performance characteristics is used as the calibrator to characterize the probe in this paper, which exhibits a more significant enhancement on the probe's gain flatness compared to the conventional microstrip line. Additionally, two types of probes with notably different frequency response (FR) are utilized to ascertain the applicability of the de-embedding method. The results indicate that de-embedding method effectively eliminates the effects introduced by the calibrator and it has minimal impact on the calibrator that already exhibits good performance characteristics.
