Efficient Parameterized Finite Element Analysis for Microwave Circuits using the Common Reduction Basis

Enhancing the efficiency of finite element method (FEM) simulations in microwave circuit design remains a critical challenge, particularly under geometric parameter variations. Traditional model order reduction (MOR) techniques, while effective for frequency-domain sweeping, face limitations due to repeated LU decompositions and basis recalculations when parameters change. To overcome this issue, this study propose a common reduction basis spanning the parameter space, formed by concatenating and orthogonalizing reduction bases from strategically sampled points. Experimental results on a threepole waveguide filter show that the method reduces computation time, particularly for fine mesh, while maintaining accuracy within −40 dB error tolerance, streamlining parametric studies and optimization in electromagnetic simulations.
