A 3D Printed Circular Polarization Beam Steering Antenna for Millimeter-Wave Applications

In this article, we present a multi-functional millimeter wave circular polarization beam steerable antenna with wide-band, wide scanning range and low loss. To improve the performance of scanning angle and phase accuracy, the influence of oblique incidence effect was considered in this work. In addition, the simple mirror flip method and 3D printing technology are used to optimize the antenna design. The simulation results reveal that the steering range from $-\mathbf{4 0}^{\circ}$ to $\mathbf{4 0}^{\circ}$ is achieved at the operating frequency of 100 GHz, and the maximum scanning loss is 0.6 dB. The -3dB bandwidth between 90 GHz to 130 GHz is 40 %.
