An Efficient Synthesis Method for Ultrawideband Planar Arrays with Constraints on Minimum Spacing

This letter introduces a method for ultrawideband sparse planar array synthesis, which can reduce peak sidelobe level (PSLL) by optimizing the array layout under given constraints. The array optimization design adopts a layout with the minimum element spacing of low-frequency half wavelength, ensuring no generation of grating lobes in a frequency band. In addition, a method for quickly synthesizing radiation patterns has been introduced to save computation time. Through numerical examples, it has been verified that this method has a significant effect on reducing PSLL and demonstrates its advantage in computational time consumption.
