A Novel Sub-Terahertz Dielectric Waveguide Bandpass Filter Using PCB Technology

This letter presents a novel sub-terahertz (sub-THz) bandpass filter (BPF) based on the dielectric waveguide (DWG), which is processed using standard commercial printed circuit board (PCB) technology. By simply loading metal strips on both $E$ -plane sidewalls of the DWG, dual-mode resonators based on DWG are constructed, which introduce transmission zeros (TZs) with slight radiation. On this basis, the sub-THz DWG BPF is proposed by cascading the resonators, and stopbands are formed by multiple TZs. For verification, a prototype working in the 110–160-GHz band is set up and measured. The proposed design achieves excellent filtering characteristics and can significantly reduce electrical dimensions and processing difficulty.
