Research on the Characteristics and Optimization of Pulse Discharge Reluctance Launching Circuit

To improve the projectile exit velocity of a reluctance launcher, this paper conducts a detailed analysis of the reluctance launch circuit, focusing on the number of turns of the cylindrical multi-layer solenoid solenoid, the total current, the freewheeling resistance, and the circuit oscillation characteristics. Firstly, based on the low-frequency characteristics of the reluctance launch current signal, the formulas for calculating the solenoid inductance and resistance are derived, and the critical resistance value for the circuit damping characteristics is determined. For the under-damped reluctance diode freewheeling launch circuit ( $R_{\mathrm {D}}=0$ ), the study finds that the projectile exit velocity and the maximum achievable velocity initially increase and then decrease with the increase in the number of solenoid winding turns. Moreover, the decline in the projectile exit velocity and the reverse deceleration effect become more pronounced as the number of turns increases. By optimizing the circuit design, a reluctance launch circuit model based on IGBT control is proposed, effectively eliminating the electromagnetic reverse pulling force. Finally, the effectiveness of the optimized circuit is verified through single-stage reluctance launch experiments, the experimental results show that the optimized launch circuit significantly reduces the reverse deceleration effect after the projectile reaches its maximum speed, and the projectile exit velocity is notably improved.
