A Universal Model for Ultrawideband Rectifier Design in Microwave Energy Harvesting Applications

A novel model for voltage multipliers (VMs) is analyzed and validated to exhibit ultrawideband power conversion (PCE) stability in this letter. Based on the proposed impedance compression property, a four-stage Dickson circuit and an eight-stage VM are fabricated. Measured results agree with simulations, achieving a broadband PCE efficiency over 70% across 0.7–2.7 GHz (Dickson circuit) and over 60% across 0.2–2.2 GHz (eight-stage VM), with peak efficiencies of 75.9% and 70.8%, respectively. The model reveals that increasing staged diodes enhances broadband stability by compressing impedance but introduces additional losses, a tradeoff to design ultrawideband rectifiers.
