An Optimized Double Synchronized Switch Harvesting Scheme and Self-Powered Topology Implementation

In order to solve the issues of short lifespan and frequent replacement of traditional batteries in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), this article proposes a self-powered method to replace traditional battery power sources. Therefore, a self-powered optimized double synchronized switch harvesting (ODSSH) scheme is designed. ODSSH concentrates the charges extracted from the whole period, then simultaneously delivered to resistance load. It essentially changes the flip-flop factor of resonant loops and reduces the total energy dissipation. This scheme retains the traits of typical double SSH (DSSH) technology, balancing the relationship between coupling strength and output power effectively. The realizability of this circuit scheme design is verified through simulation and experiment. In the experimental validation, the charging voltage obtained is 567.9% of standard energy harvesting (SEH) (CR = 100 mF) and 225.4% of DSSH (CR = 1 mF). The peak output power is 345% of SEH and 148.3% of DSSH.
