A New Si/SiC Hybrid Interleaved Three-level ANPC Inverter with Cost and Performance Tradeoff

The three-level active-neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) inverter is popular in high voltage and high power application. The different switching frequency of devices provides a situation to use full-power Si IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs for cost reduction and efficiency improving. However, the conventional hybrid ANPC topology still faces contradiction between considerable cost and performance further improvement. In this paper, a new Si/SiC hybrid interleaved three-level ANPC inverter based on wide fracrional power processing (WFPP) and Hybrid² concept is proposed towards cost and performance tradeoff. The topology and operation principle is introduced firstly, then the comparison of comprehensive performance including cost, efficiency and thermal stress on devices among proposed topology and conventional two Si/SiC hybrid topology is conducted to highlight the advantage of proposed topology.
