A Wide Band Reconfigurable PVT Robust High Precision Quarter Phase Detector for Clock Multiplier

We present the design and simulation results of a differential charge pump quarter phase detector. The use of differential structure and dynamic comparator avoids the nonideal factors caused by the charge pump, allowing us to achieve a PVT robust and simple design. Digitally adjustable current source allows the phase detector to operate over a wide frequency range. Simulation results show that the phase detector has the ability to detect a quarter phase deviation better than 0.1% cycle at various process corners from 1 MHz to 1 GHz.
