Wideband Dual-Polarized Low-Profile Base Station Antenna for 5G and Sub-6 GHz Applications

This paper proposes a ± 45° dual-polarized wideband base station antenna. The design utilizes spindleshaped dipoles integrated with a cavity-backed reflector, achieving enhanced unidirectional radiation, expanded impedance bandwidth, and a reduced profile height. Simulations show the antenna attains a low profile of 20 mm ($0.24 \lambda_{0}$ at 3.12 GHz), an impedance bandwidth of $39 \%(3.12- 4.64$ GHz), a stable gain ranging from 9.0 to 10.8 dBi, and port isolation < -21.8 dB. Covering the 5G NR $\mathrm{n} 77 / \mathrm{n} 78$ bands and the lower portion of the $n 79$ band ($4.4-4.64 \mathrm{GHz}$), this antenna demonstrates high potential for 5G and sub-6 GHz applications.
