Propagation Dynamics of Interest Fatigue Psychology on Double-Layer Social Network

This paper explores behavioral propagation in bilayer networks by integrating two key psychological mechanisms: Emergent Cognitive Activation Psychology (ECAP) and Interest Fatigue Psychology (IFP). ECAP describes how individuals transition from a dormant to an engaged state when sufficiently stimulated, promoting rapid behavior adoption and information spread. IFP explains how ongoing exposure leads to declining interest and psychological fatigue, reducing participation-effects frequently seen in social media and advertising. To systematically study these mechanisms, we construct a dual-layer network model combining the Emergent Cognitive Activation Function (ECAF) and Interest Fatigue Function (IFF), each representing different psychological processes. Theoretical analysis and simulations are conducted on SF and ER networks, examining the impact of psychological parameters like activation thresholds and fatigue intensity on propagation pathways, speed, and phase transitions. Findings suggest that when individuals exhibit more behavioral inconsistency, the spread of information becomes more efficient, uncertainty is diminished, and the minimum condition required for diffusion is reduced. These findings highlight the significant role of psychological factors in network diffusion and offer valuable implications for practical applications in marketing, public opinion, and information management.
