Implementation of 24V DC Power Plant Emulator Simulation with LabVIEW as a Solution to the Gap between Education and Industry

This research develops a LabVIEW-based 24 Volt DC power plant emulator simulation that aims to improve students' understanding of electric power systems through realistic practical experience. The system uses PZEM-017 sensors to measure voltage, current, power, and energy, and LM393 sensors to measure alternator speed. The data generated by these sensors is collected through an Arduino Mega 2560 and forwarded to LabVIEW for real-time monitoring and control of the system. The test results show that the LM393 sensor for alternator speed measurement has an average percentage error of 28.21%, is a limitation of its use. However, for voltage, current, power, and energy measurements, the resulting accuracy is much better, with a very low average percentage error. In detail, the average percentage error on voltage was 0.08%, current 0.669%, power 0.781%, and energy 9.947%. This data shows that even though there is a slight difference between sensor readings and standard measuring instruments, the results obtained are still reliable and suitable for educational practicum purposes. The system provides students with interactive experience in managing and monitoring electrical systems, and can be used to simulate industrial problem scenarios such as over-voltage, over-current, and system failure. This simulation is not only useful for education, but also as a training tool for industrial technicians and operators. Thus, this research helps bridge the gap between educational theory and industrial applications, as well as introduce SCADA technology and industrial sensors that are widely used in the field.
