Comparative Electrochemical Modelling of PEM Electrolysers for Hydrogen Production

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the performance of various PEM electrolyser models. As it is not yet clear the impact of variable power input (solar/wind power) on the aging of electrolyser membranes and components, there is a need for reliable models to assess these impacts in the long-term. To this end, the study presents a comparison among various models presented in the state of the art, to highlight their disparities. The study highlights the importance of power density as a quick indicator of model accuracy and emphasizes the need for precise power consumption levels to ensure accurate simulations.
