Evaluation Methodology for Assessing the Benefits of Assistance Systems in Power System Control Center

The increasing complexity of power system operations, driven by the integration of renewable energies and the demand for faster response times, necessitates advanced operator assistance systems in control rooms. This paper presents a novel methodology for evaluating the benefits of cognitive assistance systems, combining the SPAR-H method and NASA Task Load Index to assess operator error probability and workload. Using a simulated test network, the methodology is validated across scenarios of varying complexity, demonstrating a significant reduction in Human Error Probability and highlighting the potential of assistance systems to enhance decision-making and grid stability. While results confirm the theoretical advantages of the approach, further validation with real-world operators is planned to strengthen its practical applicability. This study contributes to advancing the reliability and safety of grid operations through innovative evaluation techniques.
