Modeling and Simulating Power Grid Control Architectures : Hypotheses and First Results

The increasing need for resilience in power grids can be addressed through automation. To achieve the desired resilience, potential architectures for automated mechanisms need to be systematically analyzed and evaluated. The NACRE platform facilitates the modeling and simulation of different control architectures, allowing their performance to be evaluated under different communication challenges. In this paper, we outline the key assumptions necessary for the effective use of the platform and present the results of studies comparing different architectural approaches.
