Koopman Operator-Based Model Predictive Control for Impact Angle Guidance

This paper presents a Koopman operator-based model predictive control (MPC) strategy for impact angle control guidance (IACG) of homing missiles. First, a data-driven Koopman operator is introduced to obtain the globally linearized guidance model of lifted states in the reference coordinate. Then, a Koopman linear model based MPC is designed to solve the IACG problem. Compared with conventional local linearization relying on the small-angle assumption, the proposed Koopman operator-MPC based IACG (KMPC-IACG) law can capture the full nonlinear dynamics more precisely, thus more applicable to the IACG problem involving large maneuvers or under conditions of large terminal constraint angles. Simulation results exhibit excellent performance comparable to the IACG open-loop optimal solution and verify the effectiveness of our method.
