Electrical Impedance Tomography Applied to Tactile Perception

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has the characteristics of high safety, non-invasiveness, dynamic monitoring, real-time imaging, and low cost, and has been applied in multiple fields such as multiphase flow monitoring and medical monitoring. The tactile perception system based on EIT arranges electrodes around flexible conductive materials and senses changes in material conductivity by applying a safe current, achieving real-time response to external factors such as pressure, temperature, humidity, etc. The adjacent current excitation and adjacent voltage measurement strategies are used to obtain the boundary voltage of the flexible material, and the Tikhonov image reconstruction algorithm is used to reconstruct the conductivity distribution in the field. Simulation and experimental results show that EIT can timely and accurately perceive changes in the conductivity of functional materials caused by external factors.
