A Bumpless Transfer Control Strategy Based on the Optimization and Its Application to a Certain Engine

In this paper, a bumpless transfer control method for switched systems is studied. For a switching control system, the control signal will undergo sudden changes at switching instants, which has adverse impacts on the system operational performance, and even causes safety risks. To eliminate the sudden changes of the control signal at switching instants, a bumpless transfer control strategy based on an intelligent optimization method is proposed. Through designing a transient period and an idea control curve, the bumpless transfer control is achieved. Furthermore, the ideal control curve is converted to an optimized dynamic gain function. Finally, a case study for a free piston engine generator is performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed bumpless transfer control strategy.
