Vehicle Suspension System Damping Research and Simulation

With the continuous development of the automotive industry, the damping performance of vehicle suspension systems is crucial for enhancing vehicle ride comfort and driving stability. This study proposes a new control strategy for semi-active suspension systems, aiming to improve the dynamic performance of vehicles. Initially, a dynamic model of the semi-active suspension system was established, taking into account the impact of suspension parameters and road irregularities on system performance, and constructing a stochastic road model. Based on this model, a switching skyhook control algorithm (SH-2States) and two optimal control strategies were designed: a state feedback-based Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and an improved LQR method based on genetic algorithms (GA). Simulation results indicate that the improved optimal control method GA+LQR can effectively enhance the driving comfort and stability of vehicles. This research provides valuable insights for the design and control of vehicle suspension systems.
