Research on Adaptive Shearer Drum Height Control Under External Disturbances

The shearer drum's adaptive height control system is essential for enhancing both mining efficiency and operational safety. Therefore, the study aims at the adaptive height adjustment technology of the shearer drum under non-ideal load disturbances. First, a mathematical model for the drum height adjustment system is developed, followed by the construct of a feedback linearization sliding mode controller (FLSMC). Comparisons with traditional SMC and PID controller revealed that the FLSMC exhibited superior tracking performance under ideal load conditions. To further validate the performance of the designed controller under non-ideal load scenarios, a joint simulation using EDEM and RecurDyn is conducted to assess the hydraulic cylinder load. The results of the simulation analysis confirms that the designed feedback linearization sliding mode controller maintained robust control performance even under non-ideal loads, providing an effective theoretical foundation and technical support for the practical application of shearers.
