Sliding Mode Control Under Finite-Bit Constraints: A Multi-Node Protocol-Based Dynamic Coding Approach

In this work, we investigate the sliding mode control (SMC) problem in bandwidth-constrained network environments by developing a novel transmission strategy through scheduling protocol and dynamic coding scheme. The multi-node round-robin scheduling protocol is employed to reduce simultaneous sensor node transmission, thereby enabling enhanced coding accuracy in finite-bit condition. Then, the state-dependent dynamic quantizer and encoded function for both the zoomed measurement and the scaling parameter are designed to convert the analog signal to the binary string. Based on that, a feasible token-dependent SMC law is designed to achieve that the closed-loop system is exponentially ultimately bounded and the reachability of the specified sliding surface. Finally, a numerical simulation is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
