Broadband RCS Reduction Using X-shaped Polarization Conversion Metasurface

A single-layer reflective polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) based on an X-shape is proposed. By arranging the PCM units in a checkerboard configuration, the RCS of the reflective antenna is reduced. The PCM unit exhibits a polarization conversion bandwidth of 77.4% (19-43 GHz) with a polarization conversion ratio (PCR) exceeding 90%, demonstrating efficient and stable polarization conversion performance. The designed model has been simulated， the designed PCM array structure can achieve an RCS reduction of over 10 dB within the 15-45 GHz frequency band, with a maximum reduction of 19.26 dB. Furthermore, the PCM unit exhibits excellent stability under different incident angles, maintaining a high PCR over a wide range of angles. This design provides an effective solution for realizing broadband low-RCS antennas, particularly suitable for stealth applications in military and communication fields.
