Average Power Handling Capability of Metal Integrated Suspended Lines Considering Self-Heating Effects

This paper proposes, for the first time, a study on the average power handling capability (APHC) of metal integrated suspended lines (MISL). Leveraging the structural characteristics of MISL as a novel transmission line, an in-depth analysis is conducted from the perspectives of loss characteristics, heat transfer mechanisms, and modeling. Additionally, the self-heating effect of metal lines with temperature-dependent resistivity is considered. Based on theoretical derivations, a numerical calculation formula is proposed for predicting the temperature rise and calculating the APHC of MISL. The calculated APHC results show excellent agreement with simulations from commercial multi-physics solvers, confirming the validity and accuracy of the proposed model.
