A 1bit Reconfigurable Transmitarray With Linear Polarization Rotation

A wideband antenna capable of beam scanning and linear polarization rotation has been proposed, based on a 1-bit phase resolution transmission programmable metasurface. The transmission programmable metasurface array is composed of 16 × 16 transmission units with a phase difference of 180 degrees. The transmission unit consists of a transmission patch, two PIN diodes, and an orthogonal metal grating structure. The simulation results show that in the frequency range of 5.7GHz-8.0GHz (33.6%), the transmission polarization rotation unit has 80% transmittance and 1-bit phase resolution. Meanwhile, the proposed transmitarray can effectively convert incident linearly polarized waves into cross polarized waves and deflect them at a certain angle. By changing the state of each unit on the transmitarray to control the phase distribution, the designed transmitarray antenna has a maximum scanning angle of 50°.
