Feasibility Study of Flat Reflectors for Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants under Conditions of the Russian Far North

The purpose of the article is to study the applicability of flat reflectors (FR) for a solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants operating as part of an autonomous energy system in the Russian North. The tasks of study are determining the effect FR application on the performance of bifacial photovoltaic panels (PVP) in photovoltaic (PV) power plant; determining the optimal distance between FR and PVP; carrying out a technical and economic assessment of using the software on a typical PV power plant operating as part of an autonomous energy system in the Russian Far North; formulating recommendations for the use FR in PV power plants. It is known that renewable energy facilities are used in synchronization with traditional energy facilities to reduce fuel consumption. Renewable energy has practical application in autonomous energy systems located in the Russian Far North. It has been determined that flat reflectors placed on the back side of double-sided photovoltaic panels increase their electricity generation from 10% to 17% in clear weather, and from 5% to 6% in cloudy weather. A feasibility study has been completed for the use FR in Markha city in South Yakutia. The results showed that the payback period of the plant was 8.55 years with an average annual diesel fuel savings 0.37 ton/kW. The calculations were carried out on the basis of the digital platform Global Solar Atlas (GSA).
