Throughput-Delay-Reliability Analysis of a Novel URLLC Uplink Multiple Access Scheme

Mission-oriented vertical applications have been considered as an emerging technological trend of the sixth-generation mobile communication (6G). Such vertical applications require stringent reliability and low-latency while throughput remains a design concern. Advancing ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC) to enable real-time reliability is therefore essential for mission-critical vertical applications of 6G. Proactive radio resource allocation (PRRA) has been recently shown to facilitate proactive minimization of communication latency with the aid of virtual cells (VCs), but suffers from physical multiple access interference and transmission collisions. In this letter, we take mobile nodes (MNs) such as autonomous vehicles as examples and propose a novel URLLC uplink multiple access scheme that adopts the virtual cell architecture and PRRA-based open-loop wireless communication (OLWC). We analyze the throughput-delay-reliability trade-off of this scheme through stochastic geometric-based modeling. The simulation results validate that the proposed scheme achieves 1 ms ultra-low latency and ultra-high real-time reliability with good throughput trade-offs.
