Error Transmission of Chaos-Based Image Encryption: Application to Smart Grid

To overcome key transmission insecurities within chaos-based secure communication, this article proposes a novel image encryption framework integrating preassigned-time control and projective synchronization (PS). The framework establishes a dual-decoupling of the encryption key from public transmission channel. First, preassigned-time control enables rapid synchronization from minimal state sequences, allowing the generation of key from independent, nontransmitted portions of chaotic sequences. Moreover, substituting complete synchronization with PS further obfuscates the relationship between transmitted and encryption sequences. This dual defense strategy effectively enhances the crypt-analytic difficulty for potential attackers. Finally, the scheme’s feasibility and robust reliability through simulations are demonstrated on smart grid imagery from high-voltage substations, confirming its potential for chaos-based secure communication.
