Performance Enhancement Of Hybrid Electric Vehicles Using Thermoelectric And Piezoelectric Generators

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have several advantages in terms of lower emissions and fuel efficiency when compared with conventional vehicles. The performance of HEV can be improved, by addressing energy losses from mechanical vibrations and waste heat. The potential of piezoelectric generators (PEGs) and thermoelectric generators (TEGs) as new approaches for enhancing HEV performance is investigated in this work.PEGs harness energy from vibrations in parts like the suspension and braking systems whereas TEGs transform waste heat from the engine and exhaust system into useful electrical energy. HEVs recover the wasted energy by combining these technologies, which lessens their dependency on internal combustion engines and increases their electric range. Better energy recovery and storage technologies adopted increases the efficiency of electric vehicles. The efficiency of HEVs is increased with better energy recovery and storage technologies.Integrating these generators increasesfuel efficiency, lower pollutants, increased battery life, and ensure system sustainability. The proposed energy harvesting scheme enhance the power supply and decrease the frequency of charging, extending the battery’s total lifespan. The proposed work addresses the possible advantages and difficulties of integrating TEGs and PEGs in HEVs, offering a path towards more energy efficient and environment friendly transportation solutions.
