A Novel Firefly Optimized P&O Based MPPT Controller for Single Phase Grid Connected PV System

Nowadays, a grid coupled Photovoltaic (PV) structure is become very popular in populated areas as a sustainable power source to fulfil the increasing energy requirements. This paper proposes a novel Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller on basis of firefly optimized Perturb and Observe (P&O) technique for single phase grid coupled PV system. Single phase grid obtained power supply from the PV panel. MPPT technique is employed in the grid system to increase the effectiveness of the PV panels. Relift Luo converter is utilised in the PV module to transform the low voltage into high voltage and decrease the ripples. Proportional Integral (PI) controller is utilized in converter to normalise Direct Current (DC) voltage and grid current. To reduce the distortion factor, single phase Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) is used, and it converts DC voltage into Alternating Current (AC) voltage. LC filter is used to produce alternating output voltages and remove high occurrence noise. Finally, the results are simulated by using the Matlab software.
