Development of a Prototype for the Analysis of Prolapsed Disc in Spinal Cord

Prolapsed Spinal Disc is a common musculoskeletal disease that affects millions of people around the world and leads to pain, mobility issues and quality of life. Current diagnostic methods such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRIs) and X-rays are expensive, require clinical visits and are suitable for continuous monitoring. These limitations can be overcome with this study, which presents an affordable, portable, non-invasive system as an effective alternative to early detection and continuous monitoring of spinal health. The proposed system incorporates vibration sensor and piezoelectric sensor to capture the signal in the affected area. In addition, LM35 sensors is used to measure the temperature for the checking the presence of inflammation. The signal is processed using a conditional circuit and fed into the controller. The microcontroller processes the data and provides result with respect to the amplitude and frequency of the acquired signal.
