A Novel Flexible, Low-Voltage-Stress Quadratic High Step-up DC-DC Converter With Boost Function Scalability

This article describes a non-isolated high step-up DC-DC converter. This converter uses a quadratic structure, a coupled inductor combined with switched capacitor, voltage multiplier cells, and only a single power switch. The proposed converter achieves a higher voltage gain at a lower turns ratio and lower duty cycle than conventional quadratic converters. The presence of a common ground between the input energy source and the load are more favorable for closed loop control, making the converter suitable for renewable energy applications. Also, the proposed converter is characterized by low voltage stress on semiconductor components (switch / diode), more compactness with high efficiency. This article illustrates the principle of operation and steadystate analysis of the proposed converter, followed by discussions on the generalized induction method for voltage gain, and theoretical efficiency analysis, and a performance comparison with other converters. Finally, a prototype with an input voltage of 17 to 48 V, an output voltage of 400 V and a rated output power of 100 W was made according to the design criteria, and the experiment verified the accuracy of the theory.
