Evaluation of IP Load Balancing Technique for Future Intelligence Networking Systems

Traditional network management has become increasingly complex as network loads have increased and new technologies such as cloud computing and big data have emerged. The use of software-defined networks (SDNs) provides a solution to this problem; however, the setting up of these networks may result in aberrant internal traffic distributions and link overloading. One solution for making the network more intelligent is to incorporate a load balancing mechanism into the system. In this study, the IP-based load balancing technique is chosen for application to an SDN network, and OpenFlow switches connected to POX controllers are used. Finally, representative statistics are presented to assess the impact of IP-based load balancing on QoS in SDNs.
