Dynamic Performance Analysis of Parallel Connected Self Excited Induction Generators for Remote Power Systems

This paper examines the dynamic performance of parallel-connected self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) in off-grid setups under different loading conditions. It uses d-q reference frame modeling with LU decomposition and Runge-Kutta methods to analyze system stability and load sharing. Under resistive loading, the 5.5 kW and 2.2 kW SEIGs maintain output voltages of 240 V and 230 V respectively, with proportional power sharing. For resistive-inductive loads, the 5.5 kW unit demonstrates superior voltage regulation due to higher reactive power capacity, while the 2.2 kW unit experiences increased current variations. With a 1000 W nonlinear load, the system achieves stable operation where the 5.5 kW and 2.2 kW SEIGs supply 800 W and 300 W respectively, maintaining voltage at 180 V. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of parallel SEIG operation in remote power generation, highlighting voltage regulation and load-sharing in off-grid applications.
