Design & Development of a Solar Powered Portable Oil Extractor

Seed oils are used for a variety of purposes, including cooking, frying, baking, and extending the life of various foods as a preservative, food, skin care, hair care, biodiesel production, and can also be used as diesel fuel additives and alternative biofuels. However, the oil extraction process is challenging and not always available. Traditional oil extraction methods often rely on large-scale, centralized facilities that consume significant amounts of energy, are expensive to operate, and can have negative environmental impacts and human health as it is unhygienic most of the time. This paper introduces an innovative solution, a solar powered portable oil extractor, to revolutionize seed oil extraction in rural areas. By adopting a more hygienic and efficient approach, this technology promises to enhance the quality of the finished product thereby helping nearby communities. Notably, the solar powered oil extractor achieved an impressive 40.5% extraction rate from mustard seeds, 49.5% oil extraction rate from nut seeds and 46% oil extraction rate from sunflower seeds. This machine promises big relief from the centralized seed oil extractor, ensuring hygiene throughout the process.
