Multisensory Mobile Robot for Indoor Application: Monitoring, Surface Disinfection, and Cleaning

Robotics is an advancing field that significantly enhances automation in daily life. But still the indoor robots for multi-function like cleaning, disinfecting, monitoring, etc. are hardly found. This study introduces the design and analysis of a multisensory, multifunctional line-following robot prototype for indoor surface disinfection and cleaning. Equipped with ultrasonic, infrared, and PIR sensors, the robot integrates UV light sterilization, vacuum cleaning, AI-driven object detection, and wireless charging. It autonomously navigates a predefined path, avoiding obstacles and pausing UV disinfection upon detecting motion for safety. Using the YOLOv8 algorithm, it identifies living beings and alerts users. Experimental results show 99.00 % accuracy in detection, 97.68 % dust collection efficiency, and 90.00 % obstacle avoidance success, highlighting its potential to enhance environmental hygiene.
