A Real-Time Open Switch Fault Detection of Nine-Level Inverter and Component Detection Approach

Quick fault detection is very necessary to save any system for reliable commercial processes. This novel research work introduces a fault detection method of single phase Nine level cascade source Multilevel Inverter to increase the system reliability, which addresses the challenges of operation of symmetrical multilevel inverters. This Method can detect the faulty part of the inverter very fast and locate twenty types of different open switch faults. The magnitude and RMS of Load voltage and signal waveshape are analyzed here to detect faulty switches. The algorithm is verified through mathematical equations and lab setup prototypes in different operating condition modes.
