Explainable AI (XAI) Assisted Prediction Model for Soil Fertility

Soil fertility is the capacity of a given area’s soil to offer advantageous chemical, physical, and biological properties that support plant growth. A number of factors influence it, including the amount of organic carbon in the soil and the amount of nitrogen that is readily available. This study examines the application of Vanilla Extreme Gradient Boosting (vanilla XGBoost)-based explainable AI (XAI) model. Using a variety of physiochemical characteristics, the developed model accurately forecasts the relative soil fertility of a given soil. It also provides interpretable graphs that illustrate the reasoning behind the model’s prediction of the soil fertility indicator.
