RF Front-End Design and Realization for Onboard GNSS SSV Receiver

This paper describes the design and development of an RF Front-end at L1/L5 Band for GNSS SSV Receiver. The RF Front-End involves low noise amplification at L band, frequency conversion from L Band to IF Band and filtering followed by amplification at IF Band. RF Front-end consists of an AGC circuit at IF Band providing a variable conversion gain of 70-98 dB with output power in the range of -0.5 dBm ±1.2 dB for an input power in the range of -100 to -70 dBm. RF and LO Sections are integrated into a single vertical-mounted housing. LO Section is based on Integer-N PLL Synthesis technique. The measured noise figure is better than 1.5 dB and spurious performance is better than -50 dBc @ -70 dBm input.
