Research on a Circuit Model for Automatic Measurement of Pantograph Parameters

Pantographs are widely used in railway locomotives, Electric Multiple Units (EMUs), and urban rail transit vehicles in China. In electrified railway systems, pantographs transmit electrical energy from the overhead contact line (OCL) to the vehicle. As an important high-voltage electrical component of trains, it is necessary to measure and adjust the status and main parameters of pantographs during daily maintenance and upkeep operations. These parameters directly affect the power quality of trains in operation. The measurement and adjustment of pantograph parameters are also required items in the repair process of electric locomotives and EMUs. Based on the principles of economical and practical design, an automatic detection circuit for pantograph parameters has been designed. This article adheres to the maintenance standards for pantographs in China. With the help of CADe-SIMU circuit simulation software, a theoretical model for the automatic measurement circuit of the main parameters of pantographs has been developed. Simulation results show that the circuit can automatically measure pantograph parameters with high quality, providing a strong theoretical basis for future application and promotion.
