Cubic Polynomial-Based Predictor-Corrector Guidance for Integrated Entry and Descent

Planetary entry guidance requires efficient and accurate algorithms to ensure controlled and pinpoint descent. Existing predictor-corrector methods rely on either final range or terminal co-ordinate constraint. This paper presents the working of a cubic polynomial-based predictor-corrector approach that simultaneously satisfies three terminal constraints. The core contribution lies in the use of a cubic parametrization of the bank-angle profile. The proposed algorithm is validated for integrated entry and descent in the Martian atmosphere, successfully meeting all required terminal conditions on velocity, latitude, and longitude.
