Analytical Study of High-Performance Silicon Steel Materials Applied to Joint Drive Motors

In order to solve the temperature rise problem brought by the compact structure of robot joint motors, based on the performance index requirements of joint motors, a 20-pole and 24-slot surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor is designed, combined with the new silicon steel material of Shougang, and the electromagnetic-thermal coupling simulation performance comparison of motors with different silicon steel materials is completed through Ansys and Workbench software. The results show that compared with the traditional 1J22 silicon steel, the new material can significantly reduce the rated operating temperature rise by 20%-37% and the peak magnetic density by 16%-25%, albeit with 3% torque increase. The 10SWG1300 has the best torque characteristics for high-torque scenarios, while the 20SW1150 has the best temperature rise control for severe heat dissipation. The study provides theoretical basis for the design and material selection of high-power density articulated motors.
