Compact and High-Sensitivity Sub-THz Antenna Sensor for Non-Contact Permittivity Characterization

In this paper, we present a compact and high-sensitivity sub-THz antenna sensor designed for non-contact permittivity measurement. Operating at a resonance frequency of approximately 116.7 GHz, the proposed antenna sensor features a patch array integrated onto a glass substrate. Its performance is characterized by the detection of permittivity variations through changes in the $Q$ - factor. The compact design facilitates seamless integration into portable devices, making it particularly well-suited for in-line monitoring systems in industrial environments. Moreover, the non-contact measurement approach reduces the risk of contamination and damage to delicate samples, broadening its applicability in sensitive fields. As a result, the proposed antenna sensor holds considerable promise for advanced sub-THz systems and dielectric characterization applications.
