Experimental Demonstration of TE-TM Mode Degeneracy in Dielectric Metasurfaces

Effects of the TE-TM polarization degeneracy and localization of electromagnetic waves in a dielectric metasurface are demonstrated experimentally in the microwave frequency band. To prepare a sample of the di-electric metasurface, disk-shaped resonators are made from high-permittivity, low-loss microwave ceramics. The TE-TM polarization degeneracy is revealed by performing the near-field measurements from which isofrequency contours are constructed. The proposed metasurface can be used as a platform for the study of planar polarization devices.
