Design of a Low-Cost, Compact Dual-Band Monopole Antenna for Internet of Things Equipment

This paper proposes a compact planar monopole antenna for use in mobile Internet of Things (IoT) terminals. The proposed antenna uses a C-shaped microstrip line with a through hole to reduce the antenna area and enable the antenna to cover 2.35-3.35 GHz and 4.99-7.06 GHz, respectively. This antenna is extremely small (9.5 mm × 7 mm × 0.8 mm), and the antenna system occupies only 30.5 mm × 7m m × 0.8 mm when configured on a printed circuit board (PCB). This paper verifies through actual measurements that the antenna's trend is consistent with the simulation. The design is low-cost and easy to manufacture and mass-produce. This shows that the proposed antenna has a good frequency band and is practical for the wireless communication system of the Internet of Things.
