Multi-Beam Luneburg Antenna Design for Thz Applications

Terahertz (THz) wireless communication and sensing technology has attracted much attention in the fields of high-speed and low-latency communication, high-precision radar, and medical imaging due to its advantages of wide bandwidth and high resolution. In the Thz wireless devices design, the antenna is a key issue for the Thz communication and sensing performance. The horn antenna with a fixed beam is always selected as the transceiver antennae for the terahertz applications, which cannot achieve a beam with high gain and large beam coverage range Simultaneously. Hence, a metal micromachining technology based Thz Luneburg lens multi-beam antenna is proposed. The antenna design can achieve low-cost high-gain beam scanning by switching input ports. It is a suitable choice for future terahertz wireless communication systems.
