Design and Analysis of Universal Standard Quaternary Logic Gates based on CNTFETs

Multi-valued logic has gained significant attention due to its substantial advantages when compared to binary logic. CNTFET is a multi-threshold device, it simply means that its threshold voltage can be varied easily as per the functional requirements of a circuit. The universal standard quaternary logic gates (SQNAND and SQNOR) based on CNTFET technology have been presented in this paper. The proposed designs are simulated using Synopsys HSPICE with 32 nm CNTFET technology. The power consumption for the proposed SQNAND and SQNOR logic gates are 54.80 nW and 52.48 nW, respectively, at a supply voltage of 0.9 V. Besides this, the proposed quaternary logic gates have been compared for different supply voltages with existing circuits, and results are found to be better in terms of average power consumption, average propagation delay, PDP, and EDP.
